Magical Kenya Open Tees Off in Nairobi
The 2025 Magical Kenya Open is underway, taking place from February 20 to 23 at the prestigious Muthaiga Golf Club in Nairobi. This year’s tournament, part of the DP World Tour, is set to showcase the best in international golf with a competitive field vying for a piece of the impressive $2.5 million purse.
Among the 156 participants, 22 Kenyan players are competing, including seasoned professionals like Dismas Indiza, Greg Snow and rising stars such as Njoroge Kibugu and his brother Mutahi Kibugu.
Dutch golfer Darius van Driel, the defending champion after claiming his first DP World Tour victory at last year’s tournament is back to defend his title. Van Driel, who won by two strokes in 2024 will face stiff competition from a talented field including notable Kenyan players and international stars aiming to take home the championship.
Safaricom, a long time partner of the Magical Kenya Open, has once again demonstrated its commitment to sports development in Kenya by sponsoring the 2025 event with KES 5 million. As the official technology partner, Safaricom ensures a seamless experience for players, organizers and spectators through the provision of high speed internet connectivity including a Cell on Wheels (COW) for live broadcasting, 4G enabled scoring devices and airtime to maintain smooth communication throughout the tournament.
With a winner’s purse of $425,000 and heavy payouts for the top 20 finishers, the tournament guarantees to be a nail-biting spectacle.
